San Diego is a melting pot of various cuisines and ethnicities. The more famous local style of cooking is Cali-Baja, a mix of Californian and Mexican tastes. San Diego is home to more small farms than any other location in the United States, resulting in a plethora of fresh vegetables and farm-to-table eateries. Many of the city’s chefs grow their own ingredients. Another well-known cuisine type is Baja-Med, a mix of Mexican and Mediterranean tastes that originated just across the border in Tijuana, Mexico.
